Angry Girls

Through my student film ‘Angry Girls’ I wanted to explore a portrayal of anger that felt honest, unregulated and fun. Having studied Disneys presentation of female anger and nuanced emotion through a previous essay, showing it as something that needed to be something controlled and ultimately overcome, I wanted to approach it in a messier, sillier, and more expressive manner – something my friends and I feel is closer to the truth of the emotion.

I began by interviewing some of these friends on the topic, editing the most emotive soundbites into extended piece of audio, and developing the visuals from there.

It was selected to be shown at the Edinburgh College of Art graduate screening at the Everyman cinema that year (2023).
